Coming soon a new book from Stewart Baird, author of "Teach Yourself Extreme Programming in 24 hours".

The Battle for Stalingrad (1942-43) is regarded as the most important battle of World War II. Not only was it the bloodiest battle in history, with over 1.5 million dead, it also marked the turning-point towards final victory. The battle itself carries with it many stories of courage, resourcefulness, dedication and self-sacrifice.

The idea behind this new book is to reflect on the battle and its aftermath, drawing lessons for today. I propose taking between 6 -10 main themes from the battle and to then use this as a basis for lessons today. These lessons will be applied with respect to software development.

Preparing fort the assault
GEORGII ZELMA - Preparing for an Assault, Stalingrad, 1942

The style of each chapter is to begin with a short account of some aspect of the battle, describing events etc , extract one lesson from it and then expand on it during the rest of the chapter. The first chapter or introduction will give a summary of the battle to allow the reader to understand and engage.

Keep an eye on this site as the book progresses.
